I think it is effective as she is wearing bright colors and it is set out well. They have also got other subheadings " Get your fashion dream job" in bright orange and stands out as young girls would be drawn to this if they were into fashion.

In comparison this is a football magazine which is targeted towards a different audience, it uses bold colours and big font to attract the reader. The background is a picture of david beckham who would be popular amongst football fans and young boys. I think its effective using red captils for beckham because it makes the magazine stand out.
